Thoughtless Thursday – South Africa: Kruger National Park

I’ve been really thrown off as to what day of the week it is.  With Monday being a holiday I have been a day off all week.  That being said I almost forgot that it is Thursday!  We have FINALLY put all our pictures from our trip to South Africa on the computer. For some reason WordPress does not like the format of Kathryn’s pictures from her camera.  Basically WP does not like super awesome quality pictures, so once I get that sorted out I’ll have to do a Kruger Part 2.  So for your viewing pleasure here is Part 1 (we have like 3000 pictures so I’m not even sure how many different posts I will end up doing)  All of these pictures are from our first 3 days in South Africa where we visited the Kruger National Park.

This is all of our luggage in our car.  I’m still not sure how everything fit.

Well hello elephant!

Deciding our route for the day.

This was the car that we rented.  In Kruger you want to have something big and high up so that you can see well.

The best lunch spot.

With all the early mornings and long flight, an afternoon cup of coffee is needed!

We were just driving down the road and came around a turn to these three guys in the middle of the road.  They were just standing there, but finally moved so we could cross.

While stopped we had to let Brice talk to the animals.

Friends!  When you spend 17 days straight with people you have no choice but to love each other.

Nasty bat.  If I never see/hear one of these again I’ll be happy.

A good look at what a lot of the roads we drove on were like.  Another reason you want a big car!

  1. Aw yay! I’ve been dying for your trip pictures, my impatience to go back to South Africa is overwhelming. We saw leopards a few times but the best one was at night we caught one with a fresh impala kill and she was trying to drag it up a tree for her cubs. Sadly, my camera didn’t love taking non-flash photos at night and we were told not to take flash when you’re like 5 feet away from a deadly creature in an open top vehicle haha. So I have no nifty leopard pictures, just some vague spots and eyes in the dark even though we sat with one for 40 minutes.

    • That sounds similar to our experience with a leopard when we went to Kruger back in 2010. It’s amazing how strong those animals are!

  2. Wow. Just wow. From the MAD packing skillz to the wildlife to everything. Also, I want a giraffe. This is amazing, thank you so much for these pictures–they really open your eyes up to a different type of beauty and way of seeing the world.

    • I still have lots more to sharing in the coming weeks. Nature in its purest form is so beautiful!
